Pastoral Care
One of the ways we share the love of Christ is through ministry to those members of our community who are in particular need. The following lay ministries equip and enable us to care for one another as we ourselves would like to be cared for.
The Community of Hope
The Community of Hope is a community of trained Lay Chaplains within the church, who minister to people in the church and community who are in need of a listening ear or pastoral presence. Once or twice a year, a twelve week training session is offered to train new Lay Chaplains for the ministry of pastoral care. Trinity is one of many Community of Hope centers in the Diocese of Texas. More information about The Community of Hope may be found at www.thecommunityofhope.org. Members of the Community of Hope, that is, those who have successfully completed the training class, participate in continuing education and fellowship as The Circle of Care.
Lay Eucharistic Visitors (LEVs)
The sacrament of Eucharist is a very important part of Episcopal spirituality and theology. For those who are ill or infirm and thus unable to come to church, LEVs will bring Eucharist to the home, nursing home, or hospital. LEVs make Eucharistic visits on the first and third Sundays of each month, following the 10:30 worship service from which they are commissioned.
Agape Guild
The Agape Guild is a subgroup of the Daughters of the King that faithfully brings a meal to the home of the bereaved family of a Trinity member.
Trinity Transporters
A team of devoted Trinity members rotate the responsibility of bringing members to church who have no other mode of transportation. Anyone who needs to avail themselves of this ministry should call the church office to receive the names and contact information of our volunteer drivers, with whom they can make specific arrangements.
Flower Guild
Each Sunday, a beautiful arrangement of flowers graces the altar of our church. Following the 10:30 worship service, members of the Flower Guild disassemble the arrangement, creating several smaller arrangements in recyclable containers. These arrangements are then delivered to Trinity members who are in the hospital or nursing home, or who have experienced a major life event in the previous week, such as the birth of a child, a bereavement, an illness or surgery, an important anniversary or a birthday.
Prayer Requests
Trinity maintains a prayer list containing names of those in need of particular prayer. It is published each Sunday in our service bulletin so that members may pray during the week for those listed. Requests for prayer are submitted by completing a prayer request sheet (found in the church narthex) on Sunday or by calling the church office 903-753-3366 or by e-mail: trinity@trinityparish.org. It is expected that prior permission has been obtained from the person before their name is submitted for publication on our list.
